Sorry, yes, Karl's videos are fantastic.  I highly recomend them to anyone.  Karl really knows his stuff.

I was refering to the new X2 Mix Video.

Sorry, Karl, I didn't mean to confuse.  I respect all your work and envy your deep knowledge of Sonar.  It makes itall the more strange that you should share a "stable" with this other guy.  You're in a different league..

I'll edit edit my post to  make it clearer.

No worries, thanks for the recommendation.

I must say I'm quite surprised at the reaction to the mix video. I've seen some of the MCI Home studio videos and thought they were pretty good.

I recognised his voice from his free videos on Youtube. They are terrible. He doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. He thought that the best thing about the PC2A was how it looked. I'm so glad I did recognise him, or I might hace bought it.

I am horrified that Cake would sell a video by him. Surely they watched his other ones. MCIHomeStudio, i think they're called.

It does not reflect well on cake.
Thats very unfair comment. Karl over the years has given us loads of free videos. What have you ever done for this forum only moan. If you know so much then do us a video and show us.
The videos are great and I am always learning new things in sonar or easier ways to do things. The video is very reasonable priced and well worth it money.
I understand that you misunderstood my post, so have changed it to make it clearer, but I do wonder why you would say I only ever moan.

That is unfair and untrue.  What are you talking about?  I can't remember moaning about anything on here.

Perhaps you misunderstood all my other posts too.

I take it all back as I thought your were talking about Karl video. Sorry also about the moan. a play on words "Sorry" I have never watched SWA mix so I cannot comment on it. If i can digest everything karl has on his video thats enough for me plus all his support answers on the forum are great. To have someone like him onboard is wonderful. Buy you pint Kb101 if in your area.
Sorry for the confusion once again.

I've purchased a bunch of videos back when I got into Sonar, I maybe got a few tips but nothing I couldn't have figured out myself by reading the manual.

I think part of the problem is that we don't see ourselves as knowledgeable as we are.

Most people here, according to what I read, are WAY above beginner, even though we tend to see ourselves differently, so when we buy a training series we are bound to be disappointed, as none of them are for the really hardcore nitty gritty stuff.

I buy a tutorial video once in a while for mixing, specific instruments etc.., but having been in the whole DAW/Studio game since cubase, Studio vision on mac or Dr.T on atari and amiga and in and out of studios since the 80s, there's nothing new anymore, and I just find myself skipping chapter after chapter, feeling like I wasted my money, and that's not really the fault of the authors, I just didn't pay attention to what I was getting.

I also have a problem with naming conventions, masterclass?... and then  a little while in, it's about how to set up a buss, that's more like babbys first DAW class.

I wish some of the industry top dogs would release something in their  particular fields, I'd have my CC out in a flash.

I'm not trying to do myself out of a sale but I should point out that my SWA Complete Sonar X2 is not a mixing tutorial video.

It is a very comprehensive look at just about everything in X2, what it is, how it works and where relevant, how to use it. It 's not a "how to track/edit/mix" video but a "how to use the tools to do that" video.

A small but important difference.

Woa... woa... rewind... uncross the crossed wires.....

I think JB101 is referring to the author of SWA Mix Clinic which isn't me.

Just wanted to clear that little misunderstanding up.

ummm Fast biker boy. I just downloaded your video a few days ago from the cake store, and I got to say that I think it is well done and it goes into great detail. I always watch these things with a pad and a pen so I can take notes to try something later. Karl I think your X2 video is great. I have not watched your other work as of yet. just my 2 cents

I bought it and honestly wasn't real thrilled that it was a looped hip hop song. Great for that genre I guess, but I mix guitars, bass (not synth basses) and vocals and harmonies. I understand you can apply the conventions and tips to anything. But for me, I also felt it was more for newbies, not that I am any old pro or anything. The video is done very well and many will benefit I have no doubt. I will benefit some also, I am sure. Just not what I was expecting, that's all.
So please don't shoot me for being honest and up front-after all-It's only MHO.
