I understand...no problem.

It's a lot easier to just get a cheapo laptop to run tuts, have manuals open or be logged onto the forum. I always have my lappy next to the DAW as I work with the forum open and on more more occasions the Sonar PDF manual and X1 Power. Even though my DAW system is more than powerful enough to run other stuff doing it this way means I'm not constantly juggling multiple windows and applications.

It's good to know other people think that's a good idea...that's what I've been doing, but I thought it'd be nice not to have to mess with that, and have it right there together.

There are two solutions: the laptop, and dedicating different sound cards to each (both suggested above). I like the sound card idea, and finally have it working.

Glad you got it sussed.

I use the internal card for computer sounds, youtube etc., and my external card for audio.  Everything works fine.

I have two 23" monitors, so don't have problem juggling windows.

Someone just told me on another thread I should disable my internal garbage sound card, even though he doesn't even know what it is..I don't see the sense.  I find it handy to be able to seperate e.g. OS sounds, youtube videos, media playrer, etc., from Sonar etc.

He claimed that it would cause "strange dropouts and glitches due to deferred procedure calls."

Never happened here, so I don't think I'll bother.
