Hi guys

I'm been trying to get a 16 bar snare part to crescendo. I try running the cal file for it but it does not seem to work. What's worse? It only has two options and I still can't figure it out.

Please help!

Try using Process > Scale Velocity, then play around with it in the prv and add a bit of random variation.

I do this by opening the snare track in PRV then adding controller 1 (wheel) and drawing a line increasing the volume as you go.

As Jonesey said play around with it.

I think you could use controller 7 (volume) instead of 1 if you wanted to but I've never tried that.

Not sure if I'm thinking straight, as it's late here, but can't you open PRV and then right click at the bottom of the PRV where the velocities are shown, and drag from left to right.  If you start low and raise the mouse diagonally as you move left to right, it will rewrite the velocity, getting gradually louder = crescendo.

Sorry if I didn't explain that well, I'm knackered..

I'm not a big fan of the PRV. The "scale velocity" worked great. Although, All I have to do now is somehow randomize the velocities so the snare sounds more "real." I know I'm going to have to edit the accents.

Thanks for you help!

That's why I'd use the PRV, my shaky hands will add enough randomness, even if I'm trying to make it even.

You can enter the roll any way you like, then just wipe your mouse over the velocity window to get the crescendo - randomness and all.

Thanks for the help. The PRV proved useful for me for once. It went pretty quick.

Can you draw bends for guitar parts this way?

Yep - pretty much anything that responds to CC's

I just wasted another evening trying to figure it out. I guess I need a controller with a pitch wheel.
