  • Is it possible to use 2 seperate Audio interfaces with ASIO ?

Hi ,
By default as soon as you select an asio device all the other devices become unavailable. Is there anyway around this? If not as I a suspect, what is the best way to get my Audiophile 24/96 and my lexicon Lamda up and running together smoothly in WDM mode.
They both have quite diffent buffer settings. The 24/96 is adjustable under the Delta control panel with 64,128,256 etc.. but the LAmba has no device control panel and its default buffers are at around 441 for 24/96. Any suggestions? I was going to try manually setting the buffers in sonar and see what that does. What about the differences in the internal clocks of each will that cause sync issues?

THANX FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS

You'd have to use WDM mode, but multiple soundcards of different makes and models is not recommended otherwise you may have timing problems. I suggest you eBay those 2 and buy a different soundcard that has the features you need.

Sure you can. Just not at the same time.

Back when I used XP and had older hardware I used something called ASIO4ALL. Current release is 2.9. I have not used it in windows 7 or in Sonar x1. I used it back when I had some line 6 interface device. My version was 1.4, People loved this or they hated it. I used it and had no problems. Worked well way back when I was using Sonar 3. It allowed the use of more than one ASIO devices and used WDM for kernel streaming.

No guarantees. People had issues with this. I had no problems.  Now I just use my VS 100 and have not used it since Sonar 5. Check it out but be aware it may or may not be a solution. It was Fun to experiment with it though. I have not tried the new version

One device at a time is the limitation with ASIO. If you want to experiment give it a try as a last resort. It should work with your hardware, not sure how well it will work with the new version of sonar or windows 7

You can run Lynx sound cards up to 3 boards. These have a proprietory hardware linking capability using a single ASIO driver. Each one just appears as more i/o channels.

Otherwise no.

search "asio for all"  . using wdm is usually a better solution, but i have had luck with asio for all in the past.

You could connect the S/PDIF out from one card to the S/PDIF in of the other.  This would allow both cards to be used together in ASIO mode to some extent, although maybe not with the flexibility that you are seeking.  The first card would be the one that you select, but the second card would also be receiving a digital audio signal.

Thanx for the replies.
I have used ASIO 4all on my lappy and other machines with generic interfaces with good results. I might give it a try.
If not I will give various WDM modes a go. I had the lamda and 2xaudiophile 24/96s working a few years ago. I only recently got the lamda back after an extended 4 year loan to a m8. So a bit of fiddling around is in order me thinks.
THANX AGAIN for the replies.
