  • Can you upgrade from Sonar X1 LE to a higher version? (Is it worth it?) (p.3)

Yes. Snag the Suite from a retailer and then register it through the Cakewalk website and then X2 should appear in your Cakewalk Store account. scook provided more detail upthread as to what the Suite gives you over just the regular Producer version. It shouldn't be too much more than Producer at this point anyway. You can no longer buy X1 directly from Cakewalk anymore as far as I know. Cheers.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone else for your patience and knowledge. I shall let you know how I get on :)

Oh and keep an eye on the monthly Cakewalk specials for Sonar extras. I missed out on quite a few good deals after I first bought X1 because I didn't know where to look. Best bet is to sign up for the newsletter but some folks have complained that they didn't receive the newsletter after signing up. If that's the case stay on their arses and they'll hook you up.

Speaking of specials... anyone notice that the Overloud stuff is back on special... after all the hubbub about those deals ending?

*facepalm*

You can only buy SONAR X1 Producer from a retail outlet. It is no longer sold at the Cakewalk Store. Make sure that you are purchasing a new in the box version of SONAR X1 Producer (i.e. it has not been previously registered). The SONAR X1 Production Suite was a bundle that contains a version of SONAR X1 Producer with a few more addons, detailed in my post above.

Yes Beep, it is not unusual for third party stuff to gone on and off sale just like Cakewalk stuff. This one did come back fast. At least the cutoff date for this sale is much clearer.

No problem. It's a more than a little confusing to sort out the versions. That's why I just went all in right from the start. Their marketing is... uh... weird.

You're probably gonna need some help to get set up at first so just ask the forum. All super helpful guys. I knew absolutely NOTHING in this spring when I bought it and now I've managed to finish a couple full tunes with the help around here. This place rules.

In fact you might want to list your system specs in your signature line now so that way when you ask questions people know what they are dealing with. Good luck.

Yeah... don't buy used. It's illegal and you won't be able to register it.

Hey Guys, I found this and I'm wondering whether you think it is appropriately priced? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm...07&hash=item51a292cc10 I'm super paranoid that I've misread it (after all it's a lot of money), but I'm convinced that it's Sonar X1 Production and a free upgrade to Sonar X2 Production.

Bump (I know it's wrong, but I just want people's opinion on the product and price. I'd hate to spend such money on the wrong thing). The page I'm getting is saying ebay removed it. It was probably a scam. I'd avoid ebay for buying software like this. You're better off going through a reputable online music dealer. I'm not from the UK so I don't know where to direct you but we have quite a few Brit forum members who would know.

Sorry, I updated the link. Apparently he is a 'safe' and respected seller. I'm not sure of music stores that would sell the software cheaply. I'll have a look though.
