so, it all went quiet after x1d, there's been little input from any bakers recently, brandon's gone to [roland]... so what's next? x2a?

he changed his forum name to [roland] (in place of [cakewalk]) so that's what i took it to mean

Cakewalk is a Roland company. Brandon is most likely moved over to the Roland marketing part with I hope a healthy raise in salary. He is as far as I know still Brandon.

The above is pure speculation base on logic.

I just hope Roland doesn't start writing Sonar manuals.

No kidding. I just acquired an RD-700NX. This thing has the most inscrutable MIDI and system/patch parameter management implementation of any piece of gear I've ever owned, and the manual is hideous. Took me an hour to figure out how to set Local Off because the only reference to that keyword combination was related to V-link. I finally found what I needed in a table called Rec Setting with the parameter named "local switch".

And here's the description of what Rec Mode in the same table does:

When this is set to ON, settings
appropriate for recording are
used with respect to the output
from MIDI OUT, regardless of the
INTERNAL layer settings.

Um.... "appropriate" in what way?

<whew>... that's some painful stuff! I had always preferred Roland Gear over such as Yamaha or Korg as their' logic/menus were much more clear. this sure doesn't fit that description!

But I hope as you get used to it, the gadget brings you much joy!

[edit]

As to the thread?

There is much to enjoy in X2 and the bugs/pains/needs have been discussed many times at length. We all now await the next update to see how/if they've dealt with these issues... (No need for beaten horses! ;-))
