<<self edited...>> Who says it can't happen? It's not true, it can, AND IT DOES!

Thanks Gus! The new mix should be done by the end of the weekend, I hope. I'll swap the files out when ready and change the subject of the thread so everyone will know the old mix has been replaced.

Dan

Dan, Nice angelic sound on this one and the instrumentation and mix are spot on for what is happening throughout the entire piece. Sounds great!! Thanks for sharing.

Peace and Blessings, John

The wife wanted a fixed mix PDQ. She likes this song for one of our granddaughters. So, new mix is up!

Thanks everyone!

Very nice Dan.  I like the 2nd movement the best and it all is very lovely.  I like the angel picture and am sad some have to make crude remarks about it.  You handled it well though.

All the best.

Thank you Jimmy! I'm sure no harm was meant. In Robby's case, it is just Robby being Robby, lol.

Dan, you nailed this!  The piano sounds darker and more like a real piano ( to my ears, anyway ).  You didn't sacrifice clarity, and this sounds very polished to me.  You have a terrific ear for orchestration.  I appreciate you reaching out and asking for advice.  After all the inflated egos around here, you are a breath of fresh air.

Thanks Lynn! Hey, I write because I love it. I have really enjoyed learning more about mixing over the last couple of years. Every song brings a new challenge and I enjoy every (sometimes frustrating) second.

Glad you enjoyed the orchestration. I just kept adding things until it felt right.

Dan,
Really good piece.   I missed the "treble mix" having just returned from a short vacation but this version you have posted sounds really good.    You are right, the SSL-G is a little more aggressive, I would use the SSL-E for this type of music, along with the SSL Bus Compressor.   I have tried the Waves Aphex a few times but to me it always sounds a bit tinny unless used on a bus with very little original signal going through it.  I actually prefer Wave's Vitamin to the Aphex, Vitamin also gives you some nice additional parameters to tweak with such as Center/Mid controls.

Anyway, the song is really good, arrangement is interesting throughout, and the mix is quite superb.

Regards
