I have the same inability to trigger more than the first instrument in a K5 multi.  I believe this is a Native Instruments issue and not a Sonar issue.

I can say that I rely heavily on NI Komplete 8 Ultimate for many of my synth tracks, and I have yet to have any sort of random distortion such as what you report experiencing.

I am running with a lot of computer horsepower and also playing it safe by running my ASIO at 44.1 and 24-bit recording depth, maybe that helps a bit.

I do seem to recall that some prior programs/services I had running were jacking things up a bit - I have long since gotten rid of whatever they are.  Just maybe some things for you to evaluate on your system.

Sorry I don't have anything more in the way of a 'fix'.

Oh Yea...I almost forgot.

Quite often (as in QUITE often) X2's meters just go crazy...as in they'll just show completely redlined/peaked forever whether anything is coming through that track or not...OR...when I'm trying to put down a guitar track or vocal track, for instance, they'll show level in the inspector on the left but not the track itself.  Like just now I recorded a scratch track vocal and the track meter showed nuttin honey but the wave form was recorded and displayed just fine.  Sheesh.

Yup. This has happened more than once to me.

And here's another thing...and this may not be a bug but by design...I know I can (and have) set my snap to toggle between Measure and 1 Sample using "N".  But lots of times I don't want to have to hold down N to make a bunch of sample/based edits.  So I'll simply "hard switch" the snap time to 1 Sample.  But the first time I select my resolution as Sample and enter "1" the snap dialog reverts to 1600 samples.  I then have to repeat the process and enter 1 again to get it to become 1.  It's frustrating.  Or am I a dimbulb?  Wait...don't answer that.

Enter 01 instead of just 1 and it will stay at one sample.  I'd definitely call it a bug myself.

YThe funny thing is that no matter how I reset the routing inside K5 I can only trigger the first instrument in the multi with the little keyboard gui in K5...sometimes. Most times it works fine.

If you want to use K5's gui keyboard with another instrument in the multi rack you need to set that instrument's midi channel to [A] 1 or omni.
Is Kontakt not working when you do that??

(with all the PRV troubles I'veYup had, missing cursors and now random distortion)

I spotted your PRV problems mention like a hawk, because I've been dealing with that also. I think I've nailed it down though. The PRV starts acting crazy, and may even cause a crash,  if you have a midi PGM change somewhere within in a midi track. If you have a the PRV open and set to the same track as one that shows a PGM change, and you either directly move the now pointer to where the PGM change is, or you scroll the PRV near enough it, you start getting a weird refresh and cursor trail in the PRV. If you close the PRV when this happens, and reopen it, you'll see all black. Anyway, whenever you see this strangeness in the PRV window, be sure to 'save' your project immediately - you're about to bomb.

I've been pulling my hair out and doubting my sanity, but I'm now able to demonstrate and replicate it every time. If I have time tomorrow, I'm gonna do a video screencap and post it on you-tube just to demonstrate the issue.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Thank the Lord for Beta testers, like you guys! :O)

Still running X1 though I own X2(not downloaded yet). No time for bugs, it's crunch time in my studio.
Good luck and thanks for all the fixes! :O)

Hi Ludwig
As I said I loaded up and used X2 for a couple of days, then thought better of it and went back to X1 - far too busy making music to worry about software issues!
As a matter of interest, listened to some of your stuff - did you use Sonar for most of this? And can I ask why you choose Sonar - there are very few people in SA who have and use it from my experience - in fact in Cape Town I don't know of anyone else.
Keep ell
Nigel

Hi Nigel, yes, it's been Sonar since Cakewalk 3.4! :O) I choose Sonar because it works the way I like things to work and I don't like any of the other DAWs. I own PT9 Native for live recording stability reasons (concerts etc), but I see no reason to switch other than peer pressure from those "who KNOW" :O) - Normally the same guys who spend fortunes on boutique cables etc!

The whole "Superman vs Batman" thing is SO missing the point of making great music. No one gives a rats ass what a Grammy-winning engineer or producer uses, and normally neither do they. Their DAW did not make the music, they did. These discussions are normally found in the forums filled with guys who have no work - I'm sure you know what I mean :O) Hehehe.
