Mel . . . not sure what your issue is ? You've got the gear, you've installed Sonar X-2 current build, your Intel CPU is smokin'
Have you had any issues actually writing music ? Have you had success setting up your soundcard drivers ?

I would suggest:

1.  Make sure the latest drivers are installed for the interface.
2.  Set the interface to the desired sample rate.
3.  Decide on an ASIO buffer size (128, 256, 512).  I'd get it working first at 512 then try dialing down to 256, then 128, you will hear it if it is set to slow.  I have an i72600k as well, and I am quite happily running 44.1 sample rate and an ASIO buffer of 128.  I can run it at a sample rate of 96k with an increased buffer size, but I don't see too much of a gain in latency so I just take it easy on my hardware and run at 44.1 and 128. I am quite content with the 44.1 and 128.
4.  Set your record bit-depth in Sonar, I run at 24-bit, which is the max for my interface anyway, and make sure the sample rate in Sonar matches the sample rate you set for your interface.
5.  Try it all out, and adjust as needed or wanted.

Hope that gives you something that helps.  I also went through the PITA process of turning off a bunch of services to see what I could squeeze out of everything, but decided after that to just go back to the 44.1/128 with no changes needed for anything else running on the computer.
