I've had the most frustrating night working with Sonar. Bugs, crashes, wrestling with temperamental automation nodes. But most of all the crashes. I've had crashes galore tonight, just doing the most innocuous things like drawing in automation or moving a clip. I ditched Pro Tools because of the frequency with which its audio engine crashed (and 32-bit....pah). But with Sonar, I don't even have to be playing music back for it to crash. It happens when I'm clicking around in the track view, or more often, clicking around in the console and in ProChannels.

I'm really hanging in there for an update to fix some of these problems. Because quite frankly I'm not managing to be that productive with X2. I spend half my evening trying to get to the bottom of quirks and bugs and restarting after crashes.

Sorry to be so negative, but there it is

There is a Quickfix in the support/knowledge base on Cw website. Tried that? Also recommends you to download the latest visual studio (2012) from Microsoft.

Are you running firewire or usb? If fw, use 1394 OHCI legacy drivers in Windows 7.

Hopefully this helps:)

If you have not installed the quickfix please do so since it addresses some common crashes and random instability scenarios.
If you already have the quickfix installed, its very important that you log problem reports so that we have something specific to investigate. You could have an underlying system problem or are running into a workflow specific issue that is not logged.
Please list any CWBRN numbers that you have logged and/or contact support so that they can work with you on isolating the issues.

Also, run a full virus scan and disk check.

I just want the Breverb bug to be fixed when inserting it on a bus. sometimes, it goes silent as the Wet sound doesn't get processed.

Done all of the above, except the latest Visual Studio. But don't applications usually install the require C++ redistributable when installing themselves? Will give it a go though.

Hi Noel: I always let Sonar send Cakewalk the crash info if it gives me the option - sometimes it hangs without giving me that option though. The trouble is that a lot of the time, I cannot even pinpoint exactly what action made it crash. I'll be clicking away and at some point realize that it's not responsive. Did it happen when I clicked Guitar Rig in the FX chain? Or when I turned off the EQ? Hard to say when your attention is not 100% (me at 2am generally!)

Do you have CWBRN numbers for the crashes you sent?

Does installing Visual Studio really help??  I have Visual Studio installed on my work machines but I don't really want to intall it on my DAW unless there's a really good reason.

Thanks,

John

X2 is running very good here.

I think, if you had issues and crashes with Pro Tools and then also with Sonar, most likely your system has a problem.

cheers
