Another trick for outboard possessing, you will need a mixer for this, is to record both the wet and the dry signal in 2 ( or 3 for stereo efx) tracks. 
I do this with guitar tracks and I guess it would work with vocals. 
Sometimes you need to "play" the efx. And with vocals you could certainly perform to what you are hearing.

  • in sonar 8.5 it has s/drummer3 i have watched the tutorial on youtube and got sd3 to open into a project not to use but to play with. i got as far as selecting a drum kit and went to get it to sample  pressed play but i have no sound and the kit wont play at all!!!!!!!!!! now for the really dumb part does sd3 need to have a midi connection if so will i be able to use my sd2 sound module for this.
I did a fast video on SD3 but it was converting audio to midi.


You can follow it along from the point of "Insert Soft Synth" and that will put you on the right path.  
I used X1 but if I remember 8.5 will be pretty close to the same thing
