Hi all,
I just upgraded My Computer System and Retired my Legacy Yamaha 01X mLan firewire DAW controller.  I replaced it in part with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, but I still need a full feature DAW controller.  In my quest I have found that there has not been to many new products hitting the market.  I see that what is on the market is old and most of it is a legacy or soon to be legacy products. Mackie, Tascam, Alisis, Yamaha have all dropped products with no new replacements. If you look at the drop down menu in X1 for adding a control surface you will see most of the choices are discontinued by the manufactures.  So I am asking an open ended question, what is The Future of Hardware DAW Control Surfaces.  I have three choices I'm considering 1) Roland V-Studio 700C - 2) Avid Artist control or 3) Avid Artist Mix with Artist Transport.  The V-Studio is BIG and costly, the Avid products are under EUCON control and twitchy at best with X1.  I have E-mailed Cake, so far no word on the TRUE compatibility of EUCON with X1.

I would like to hear your opinions or comments on The Future of Hardware DAW Control Surfaces, Please no fist fights LOL

Thanks,
mpop

I would go with a Mackie Control. Yes its old but that in and of itself is a recommendation.

I would go Mackie control as well.  That protocol is not going away soon.
They are also built like tanks.
Soon it will all be touch screens s controllers (don't listen to the nay sayers, it's gonna happen).
Until then, we are left with close to 10 year old gear for controlling our DAWs.

Heheh. Wow indeed. I stole that from the CH (forget who posted it). I was just trying to find out how much it costs to no avail which means it's likely the equivalent to the down payment on a house. :-/

Maybe if all us active forum members pitch in ten bucks we could afford the trackball and keyboard.
