So, I just spent 3 hours at 95 beats a minute which is at least one beat per minute faster than I can actually play it. I'm tired, and I stop and put everything away. I always do. Force of habit. No reason I can remember. Do the rest of you put your mics away every night?

When i want to leave the mics up I put pillow cases over them to minimize the dust

Condensers yes, dynamics not always because they're a bit more rugged.

I read this a few minutes ago and have just finished wandering guiltily around my studio putting away microphones. 

So...uh...yeah, I totally put them away. Starting tonight.

As always, I put them away here at home.  Kids, dog, beers - if you dont' have a room you don't need better safe than sorry.

A separate studio or a room that you can shut off is ok to leave mikes up.  But yes, you should cover them - and with something that won't let in dust.  I hate having to wash pillow cases often.

Rarely ever put them away. Always working. Sometimes I cover them, mostly not. If I go out of town I put them away.

I'm fortunate to have a dedicated room for my studio, and I leave my mics up all the time.   I put a zip lock baggy over my mics to keep the dust away.

If you put the room where the mics are into total darkness and turned on a bright spotlight and looked at what was floating around in the room in the light beam you would be pretty surprised.

The dust that settles here in New York is atrocious...any large city in fact. I run an air cleaner all the time, it's a pretty kick-ass one (IQ Air) and has 3 stages of filtration in it. I add an extra coarse dust pad to the bottom of the chain, and it's incredible what that picks up in the space of a week. I cannot help but think that if it wasn't stuck to this pad, it would be in my lungs, in my computer, in my mic and everything else. 

The dynamic mics are covered by a windscreen ,that is really cheap,
I´m lazy in that,don´t put them away.But the condenser mics I put away every night.
