Hi,
I recently purchased a Roland A-800 PRO to use with Sonar X2 because obviously by doing so I can then blame Cakewalk+Roland entirely when it all just doesn't come together (because my super overclocked nuclear powered pc could never be the culprit right? ).
Well, actually it all did come together which is great so far.
Just one thing I can't seem to get sorted is that every time I start Sonar, the controller suface settings keep forgetting the input and output port for the A800. It only takes a minute or so to change this but it would be nice to knock this niggle on the head if anyone could help.

Cheers.

Have you tried opening a new project, say with "normal" template, enabling the controller then saving the template ?

I have the A800 PRO as well, and fortunately am not experiencing this problem with X2. However I do seem to remember having that problem, at least briefly, with X1. I don't remember exactly what I did to resolve it but I'm pretty sure I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the A-PRO driver.

Try deleting the control surface within the Sonar preferences, uninstalling the driver, and then reinstall. Theres's a readme file in the driver folder (C:\Program Files\RdDrv001\RDID0102) with instructions on how to do this.

Thanks for the replies guys. Couple of good things you've mentioned for me to try there.
Sounds like this is something I can resolve then hopefully!!
Cheers.

Unfortunately in Windows there is a heirachy of recognition when booting the system. That is to say that, whatever driver Windows sees when it boots, it grabs. So there is a turn on order, no matter what you have chosen as default in the sound setup box. Here's an example relating to the A pro 800, a PCR 800, The V700C, the V700R, and a M Audio 4X4 midi router. When turning on the computer, you want your main controller to be on. Nothing else Midi. When you reach the desk top, turn on any other Midi devices, Then boot Sonar. The messed up inputs/outputs thing, is a windows thing. Windows tells Sonar what drivers it found during bootup.
