A few questions:

- Does this happen with any synth or only Rapture?
- Are you using a DX or VST version of the synth?
- If you switch to the presonus driver MIDI input again does the problem recur? 

Certain DXi instruments have problems with X2's method of triggering them which is why I asked for the info above. If so there is a registry setting for compatibility.

If you believe it to be hardware related, you can use a MIDI monitor plugin to troubleshoot if note off messages are being lostAlthough if you say the same interface behaves ok in X2 it would seem to rule that out.

what actually happens;   open a project(for argument sake new project) insert midi track  activate "input echo on"  start playing from an external synth.  and sure enough notes start to hang(not release).
At this stage there are no software instruments or effects or patches. So I don't even need to activate the record function for this to occur.
This symptom only happens with Sonar X2 and Presonus Firepod.
This does not happen with Sonar X1.
since I've installed the Edirol midi interface no problems.
That's why I belive the problem is with the Presonus drivers(not Hardware) and not with X2

I've checked the Presonus website for the Firepod Win7 drivers but could not find.
