  • Midi output drops after muting/unmuting

In many of my tracks I'll often have a long sustaining single note, e.g. a high string line or a pad from something like Spectrasonics Atmosphere. At times I want to check to see what the mix sounds like without it by muting that track while it's playing, then un-muting it as a way of quickly A/B-ing the mix. In my old version of Sonar 3 that was no problem and it worked perfectly so I could quickly and easily compare the mix with/without the pad while the track played. But now I'm on X1 I find that as soon as I mute the pad it drops the midi data so when I un-mute it the output doesn't come back unless I restart the track from where the midi note is triggered. Anyone else notice this or suggest a way to work around it? I guess I could mix the midi track down to audio first but that's a bit of a pain.

I think it depends on the softsynth. I tried it on X2 and using TTS-1, I can mute the MIDI track during a held chord and when I unmute it the chord is still playing. However, using Dimension Pro, if I mute the track and then unmute it, the sound doesn't come back. Perhaps there is a setting that needs to be changed. I couldn't find anything.

Thanks for confirming it Dave. Yep, I also notice it on Dimension pro as well as Atmosphere, Kontakt and others. Anyone know of a fix/setting to change - I didn't have this problem back in Sonar 3. I know a lot's been changed since then but surely it should still be possible?
