  • Creating a Stereo track from 2 mono tracks in X2?

Once again I have some stereo mic tracks from a Live show that is about 2 hours long.

I have been using the bounce to tracks method to make 2 mono tracks a stereo track, but when the files are 2 hours long this method is rather slow.

I just upgraded from SONAR X1 to X2.  Are there any new features that can simply link 2 mono tracks or create a stereo track without bouncing?  I still feel there should be no need to bounce when you just want to make a stereo track of 2 mono tracks.

how long does is it taking to do a fast bounce? are you wanting to create a stereo track for ease of editing and mixing? you can link clips and send them to a common bus to add effects there.

+1 for bus

+2 for bus.  Also for the "Fast Bounce". If you're just bouncing two audio tracks fast bounce should be ok... try it and see. One usually needs to uncheck fast bounce when soft synths and midi are involved.

Yes,  I have a lot of volume envelopes to add so I would like it to be 1 stereo track instead of 2 mono tracks.   I will probably go the buss automation route, or just put up with the bouncing time.   ** I took about 20 minutes to bounce, but I discovered I was doing it wrong and had unwanted effects in the bounc or something else wrong.  It now takes about 2 minutes.  Not so bad.

Another bouncing question.  My source tracks are 16bit.   When doing a simple bounce to stereo, should I change my 'Render Bit Depth' to 16bit or will there be some benefit to a higher bit depth?.   I'm not sure if it is really rendering or just applying the Pan left/right to the audio files.  All other settings are unity.
