Hi,

Any quick way to convert a software synth's midi note to wav ?

Right now, if I want to do the above I will

1) solo that particular software synth track and then mark the loop point (say first 2 bars)
2) export wav.
3) close / quit that software synth and import the wav files into Track-1 for example.

Am I on the right way to do it ?  I am thinking if I can "record" the software synth into an Audio Track on the fly.. it will save a lot of my work

I tried to use the new added audio track to :

1) select Input = Sylenth1  output = Master.. However, I didn't see any "R" button.

   Pls advise.

Have you tried freeze? I am getting the idea you want to record a performance that is variable and is not suited to simply recording the MIDI and playing it back. If so you may need to use the new feature in 8 to do this called Live Input Bounce.

No, there is a much easier way to do it. Select the MIDI track AND the track with the softsynth. Then Edit-Bounce to Tracks and it will create a new audio track for you in about 5 seconds.

You don't even need to do that unless you want to put audio effects on that particular track. You can just leave the MIDI tracks as they are and when you're ready for your final mixdown, just mute the tracks you don't want, press CTRL-A to select all tracks, and then File-Export-Audio and Sonar will convert all your  MIDI softsynth tracks to audio and mix them down to a WAV file.

This question is very confusing to me. A "midi note"? What does that mean?

I assumed he meant MIDI notes (or track).

sorry to make you guys get confused..

Yes, soft synth midi track --> wav track ...

I saw a video about Live from YouTube and it has "record" software synth feature on the fly..  So the software track easily
becomes to a wav / audio track.  It triggered me to ask here.

Unfortunately, SONAR does not offer this functionality... yet. It's been a sore point with many around here. That, and the fact that you can't just route the ouput of any audio track (including a soft synth) to any other track and re-record it in real time.

The workaround is either to run a temporary analog patch between the output and input of your audio interface, or be one of the fortunate few who owns an audio interface with a virtual mixer that can create a pure digital loopback with no D/A/D conversions... like my 1820m.

Whats Live Bounce then?

Works for live input, originating outside SONAR, but not soft synths. You still can't record their output in real time via any internal routing.

Edited to remove "existing audio tracks."  You're right about that. Except that you can only bounce all the existing stuff to one track. You can't do separate "stems" for vocals, drums, etc. in a single pass.

I have NI Skanner XT wich is a Reaktor instrument. It has some Morph capabilities and the such and I don't think they are automatically.  The dude doing a tutorial in Ableton was able to simply select an audio track and the Skanner XT aka Reaktor track, arm it and record the output on the fly and record the audio with the morph effect.

I'm actually using X2 but I googled the issue and came across this topic.
