> Actually, that issue refers to a DAWs ability to launch MixControl from it's preferences

That was pointed out earlier on in the thread...

An uninstall/reinstall of mixcontrol sometimes works wonders. I find upgrades sometimes do not work nicely with mixcontrol.

Thanks for the tips Matt (Focusrite) & Beepster
I read all of Beepster's thread this weekend hoping to find a clue, but it was good fun anyway ;-)

I am heading home tonight to try the beta + firmware solution. Hopefully some music will be made.

Sadly (maybe not) I just ordered a Roland UA-55 Quad-Capture 15-minutes ago! I guess it will be my backup plan if i cannot get the Scarlett to behave.

Heh... hard to find clues in my threads especially from back then. Glad you enjoyed it though. Let us know what happens. Cheers.

Actually I guess that's not true because usually smart people show up to save my butt. Gotta love this place. ;-)

Well -
Part I: the trial of the Focusrite BETA worked... Kind-of. It doesn't crash, but it still seems to be a problematic issue with the MixControl not playing nice. Frankly as a long-time (10 yr) M-Audio Delta 1010 user with Cakewalk SONAR, I just don't get why Focusrite made the MixControl so hard to play nice with Sonar.
Part II: I got the Roland QUAD-CAPTURE. Downloaded the latest drivers. Plugged it in. Recorded tracks and I am extremely happy with it! IT JUST PLAIN WORKS.

Conclusion: Goodbye Scarlett! I am not interested in paying to be a BETA tester at this point in my life. I have very little time to make music and I intend to make more and less tech-troubleshooting my system. I guess I will see if I can sell it on Craigslist...

Thanks for all the advice folks! I love Cakewalk and this forum!!!

Erik did you not try what I suggested? Do a full uninstall of mixcontrol, reboot, then reinstall mixcontrol. This works for me. Cheers.

Yes I did, but the problem is that the firmware was upgraded and it forces me to upgrade MixControl.
