  • Question about automation lane edit filter labels

I'm trying to create automation lanes to automate effect parameters that I have in an FX chain. I can find the correct automation ID's in the edit filter menu, but it does not display the name of this ID on the edit filter selector.

For example, I have a lane which controls the on/off switch of an effect in Guitar Rig. The ID is listed as "Ste.On/Off." But the edit filter selector is still showing "Volume."

In fact that label only seems to show either Automated Mute, Pan, Reverb Send Level, Reverb Send Pan or Volume. It displays whichever of those automation parameters you selected last. Select an automation ID from an effect you're using, and it will still show one of those five parameters.

This sucks big time, because now I have to remember what each lane is controlling. Is there some other way to label your automation lanes? And why doesn't the edit filter selector show the proper ID selection? Is this a bug?

it does seem a bit buggy but when you click the automation filter, for example, the auutomations that you have enabled will be in bold and at the top of the list when you pick the dropdown.  keep inserting automation lanes (lanes showing) and go through the list of bold entries until you have a complete set of lanes showing then you can collapse and expand the lanes at will with all assignents showing.

Not sure I understand what you mean...what I want is to be able to look at the automation lanes and immediately see what parameter they're controlling, without having to open any dropdown menus.

Just want to confirm as well that this is only an issue with effects in ProChannel FX Chains. If you select Enable, Input Gain or Volume from the FX Chain automation menu, the label will show those parameters. It's when you select parameters of effects that are inside that chain that Sonar fails to show the ID name on the edit filter button. This has to be a bug.

And another quick question while I'm on....now that I've noticed the FX chain has an Input Gain parameter in its automation menu, is there any way to adjust the input gain to FX chains without automation?

its the vertical slider on the left of the fx chain screen when you open it.
