  • Cannot get X2 serial number to work

Hi
I have put an e-mail to customer support ,but will not get a reply before end of Monday perhaps.

I have got rid of Sonar X1 and also the bits left over In the registry to make a clean install.
I have succsessfully loaded up the first X2 disc and serials for Rapture which is on same first disc.
I have registered my product and ran as administrator,but my serial number which was e-mailed to me does not want to work.
I have tried several times now without success.
I would love to get this business out of the way today to get the rest of the package loaded.


Has anyone got any pointers or have I been given a useless code for my serial number

Hi John,

I know you say that your serial was e-mailed to you, but have you checked your online Cakewalk account? Just in case the reg and serial differ in some way... it may be worth checking.

Rightclick the X2 icon on the desktop. Then select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. The click APPLY.  I assume that box is not permanently checked. Once that is done I assume you can get X2 registered. Sorry to hear of your troubles... You can however use X2 unregistered. And wait untill Cakewalk gets back to you. I do hope however this will fix your issue.

Yea, click on the Cakewalk Store tab (above) and log into your account, compare the serial numbers from there.

Erm... I don't think you can. I don't think they have yet released a "demo" or thirty day trial version of X2, have they? If my poor brains recall, you need the reg code before you can even install the software, so if that doesn't match you don't even get the chance to install it.

Stop a Second everyone and thanks for all of your responses!!!

I have looked on my Account and my serial number Is different to my serial number on THE COMPLETE REGISTRATION box.
I cannot delete that number on screen as It Is blanked offYou can only enter the REG code.

my music computer Is an offline machine

What has happened Is---

I purchased Sonar  X2 off of ET Cetera In the UK and they forwarded me my reg codes  In advance so as I could get my HD Orchestra download down In time before It expires.
I succsessfully entered codes and got my free download for HD Strings for Dimension Pro

I am wondering when they gave me the codes ,they sent me a different Sonar X2 and the one I registered with Cakewalk has gone somewhere else.
Well My Serial number  Is different to the one one MY ACCOUNT

I think you my be able to fix this issue by changing something in the registry. Not that I would recommend anyone to do that sort of thing of course. And I could be so wrong with this, so don't pay much attention to me...

I think you may be right there ,but I will have to take the serial number out of that box through the registry and I am not sure how do do that.

Yeah, a shame that.

I suppose you got the disks because your internet is pants?

If it were me, I think I'd try uninstalling X2 and then download the X2 program files and then try to install from those.

But it might just be easier to wait until you get hold of Cakewalk support, providing you have the patience to wait (I haven't by the way lol).
