Love to get some opinions on this mix!  It is definitely in need of some help.
Melody is a clarinet with electric guitar, piano, fretless and Superior Drummer for drums.

Nice tune.  I like how the song is put together.  I thought everything sounded pretty damn good.
Even though it sounds clean, everything kinda of sounds up front to me.
Like its all coming down the center.
I would make 2 mono clarinet tracks and pan them wide and see how it sounds to create some space. Just an idea.
I'm not great at mixing so I can't offer much advice.  Creating a really spacious mix is something I've yet to achieve.
But at the end of the day it is YOUR song, so if you like it that way, that's all that matters!
Cheers!

Hey Metal Tek - what a cool suggestion - I will give it a go.  Honestly, I am not crazy about this mix, so
I really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Anyone else have any comments?  I really am interested in getting some feedback with where to go
with this one.

OK - I made two mono tracks of clarinet and panned them hard left and right.  I put more reverb on both and also turned up the guitar and piano tracks.  The new mix is here:

whack
I like it.

The backing plucked is perfect for the song.

For me the clarinet is to dry and upfront, send it back a little with some reverb.

Why did you you stop the drums with the full snare for? it was starting to take on to level 2 just there

Try thinking of your mix as if you were listening to this as a live performance and you are in the front row with the musicians to the left and right of you, a bit of panning would definitely help separate the instruments. Maybe EQ things a little differently to give them their own space. The drums were a little soft and mechanical, it's difficult to get great drums. I think it would help give the song some drive if you could improve the drum track. Make the clarinet sound more up front, as this is the melody, a bit more volume and/or compression might do the trick.

Thanks for the suggestions!  I tried to get a little more depth to the clarinet by adding more reverb in version "B".  I do agree that the drums could use some improvement.  I purposely want an uncluttered part - but I agree that they feel a little too mechanical and boring....  This is some valuable feedback!

Love the fretless... Normally not a big fan of the hard pan, but I really like that verby guitar over there ----> It seems to sit so nicely with the keys over here <-----

And that sax is beautiful, what is it?

I really enjoyed your performances. Is that bass an electric fretless? Or a plug?

Very nice number, arrangement,  and performance.  I agree with some of the above comments about the drums but as one who uses acoustic loops I am very familiar with trying to get the perfect drum sound.  Great separation on the instruments!
