One that stands out to me is Manic Monday by The Bangles. He wrote a lot of songs for other people.

Normally I stay clear of the RIP threads …I don't want to be next

Anyway , a couple of things ,
Prince was very much like many people on this board , except that maybe he had a lot more resources and talent than some of us …
A lot of people may or may not know that Prince would often play all the instruments and parts on his tunes .
I've also heard that he would stick with one song dialed up in his studio until he got the song exactly where he wanted it …

I find this to be pretty amazing because  I was working at some high profile NYC Music stores in the late 70's going into the mid 80's . Midi was about to become mainstream , all the hardware was expensive , Midi sequencers Synthesizers and Drum Machines were all new players in the game …
Many of those tools may have had lot's of character , but they lacked fineness and much of todays functionality .

RTFM on all that $hit , figure out how too hook it all up and then go make some creative music …Yeah right ..lol
While your at it , Create a  Unique Branded Image and Dance every bit as good as M J  while you play guitar with the showmanship and imagination of Jimi …

My Vibe and thoughts on Prince are  , Prince was more like a lot of US than we are like him .

RIP Prince .

all the best,

Kenny

For those who care about such things, David Gilmour substituted a bridge from Purple Rain into Comfortably Numb (around the 4:30 mark) Sunday night at Royal Albert Hall.

Not a bad audience recording.

We need to start a thread for musicians that are still alive and playing.

Go David!

Jeff Evans
For me one of his best ever is Diamonds and Pearls.

Please listen carefully and be amazed! They don't much better than this.

A few things to note. The melody line is just beautiful and it all follows so well. Listen to how the drums seem turned upside down in the verses. Great chorus and that incredible groove in the middle section. Comon this is it folks!!!
