Recently I had to purchase a new computer.  Cakewalk on my old one worked flawlessly so I was quite sure I would have no problems setting things up again.  WRONG!  I have downloaded EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer onto my computer.  Its is set to scan VST's automatically and when I start up Cakewalk I can see them flash by as it scans.  However, they do not show up as options when I want to insert a soft synth and when I go to plug in layouts it will not give me the option to manage layouts.  There is a check in a box by default-all plugins, which I cannot uncheck.  Any ideas on what I may need to do to get these synth options op and going?

You realize your old computer was probably 32 bit OS system and your new computer will most likely be 64 bit.
So which version of Sonar did you install, the 32 bit or the 64 bit?

I don't think Sonar 7 was fully integrated into the 64 bit environment yet and the plug ins might all be still 32 bit.

If you look back here to threads from 2009- 2011 there are thousands of posts about the plug in issues with upgrading to 64 bit.

Right on.  Good suggestion.  I will check that.

Hey there.  Yes, I'm about 30 miles south of the border, but I'll be ducking if you're actually gonna throw something

I may have installed sonar as 32 bit in one and 64 bit in the other.  I did finally get Sonar to recognize both synths, even though it will still not give me the option to manage layouts.  That was after uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  However, I cannot audition clips in EZ Player, or get the sound to play when I audition kit pieces in Superior Drummer.  But I can drag the clips from EZ Player directly into Sonar and it will play it there.  Any ideas about that?  Still could be the 64 bit/32 bit thing.  Is there a way to check which version of Sonar was loaded, since I cant seem to remember?
