Has anyone tried Gsnap or Antares Auto Tune for vocals?    Are they any good?   I want something easy . . but cheap.

Why not just use V-Vocal?

Have you tried V-Vocal - they don't come any cheaper than zero bucks!

I use V-Vocal mostly in the graphical mode to touch up a note or two, but it is possible to get the "hard correction" effect. Unfortunately the way the documentation tells you how to obtain that sound is not correct, but this article I wrote for Sound on Sound tells you how.

For doing transparent pitch correction, here's another article

Greg,

It's part of Sonar X1/X2.

Read Craig's articles before you start messing around with it

When you do start, save your project regularly, preferably with some sort of file-versioning happening so you can easily revert to a clean slate.

I like Melodyne much better than V-Vocal for both usability and results.  That said, I have used V-Vocal on a couple of records and it was fine.
