yes, i have the view ghost data.

not sure it was answered - after all my deleting, when i check, say, the pan line, it is solid to measure 238.  but when i have the pan line showing, and delete again all after 213, that solid line turns into a dotted line.

is this a clue at all?.

A solid line indicates that there is an envelope present up to measure 238. Are you actually using pan automation or is it just flat throughout? There must be a pan node at 238. The dotted line usually indicates no further automation on the envelope but a jump segment will also be dotted, so it is possible there's a further node after the line turns dotted. (Hope that makes sense)

If you are using automation I'd suggest inserting a node on the pan envelope at the end of the last clip on that track, then delete the node at 238 by right clicking on it and selecting "Delete node"

If you aren't using the envelope at all just right click anywhere on the envelope and select "Delete envelope".

In either case you'll need to set the edit filter to the pan envelope first (Shift + left click on it).

That should sort it out.

i was usuing pan on 2 tracks, tho can get rid of them if necessary for now.

anyway, when i delete the pan envelope, then when i re-open it in the automation menu, the pan envelope again goes to 238 where a node is automatically inserted.  it seems because the project wants to end at 238, every time i open a fresh envelope it goes to 238.  even with no node there from my doing, for every track.

i just can't find what is setting the project to end at 238.  no events, nodes, etc.

btw, is there a way to delete envelopes for all tracks at once, or do i have to do it 1 track at a a time?

Select all tracks and time range you want to delete automation from, then select "Edit--->Delete....." from the menu. You'll then have the option to uncheck "Events in tracks", make sure track automation is checked and click on okay.

Select all of your Midi clips and do a bounce to clip (assuming you don't have any Midi Clip Fx anywhere)

See if any of them extend out after the bounce.

I don't know if this would be of any help, but I had a similar problem with one or two pieces in the past.  I think it was with 8.5, but it could have been X1.  The problem had something to do with layers that were muted.  As I recall, deleting the unused layer(s) stopped it.

Sorry to be so vague: it was a while ago and I don't remember the details very well, but I thought I would throw it out there in case it might point to a useful direction.
