Hi,
I can't find a way of getting Sonar to default to my customised instruments plug-in menu layout rather than Sonar's existing default. I've tried saving my layout in the normal template, and it works for FX, but not Instruments.

Any suggestions?

I haven't used them, but would a screen set accomplish this for you?

Hi Bob,
My Normal Template already has screensets in it. It appears to be a bug in that I can save my FX layout, but the Instruments one always defaults to the "Default All Plug-ins" layout

Maybe I should spend less time setting things up and actually get on with making music

I haven't set one up in X2 yet, but they worked fine in X1 & all previous versions.

Yes, so it might be something I'm doing wrong. If you get round to setting up a layout, then I'd love to know whether you get it to work (for instruments as well as effects)
Thanks

One thing I've noticed is that if I use Windows explorer to navigate to the folder with my templates in and double click on Normal.cwt, I get the expected behaviour.

Edit

Er.... no I don't. Sorry

Maybe your shades are too dark?

I dunno what is happening there - sorry.  After I take a nap I will play around with it a bit and see what turns up at my end.

Hopefully it's something simple,

Lol, that's not a picture of me. It's just some random cool-looking dude.

Here is what I just did and it seems to work.

In the browser click on the Plugins tab
Click on the Instruments button
Select "Manage Layouts..." from the Plugins dropdown
Rearranged the synths in the plugin manager
Click the save icon
Add description "X2 Producer Instruments"
Add file name "X2 Producer Instruments.pgl" and save
Select "X2 Producer Instruments" from Plugins dropdown in browser

The browser retains and displays the Instrument layout I select in the project.

Thanks scook. When I do what you've describe, the layout gets saved for that project, but not in the normal template (at least for instruments). I'm not sure whether you're refering to the project or the template.
