hey everybody!    can anybody explain to me how sync envelope in rapture is supposed to work???   let's say i have an amp envelope that looks vaguely like this... /\  if i set the amp eg sync to 1 i'd expect that if i hold a note for a bar the eg would cycle once during that bar. if i held the note for 2 beats it would get to the top of the curve and if i triggered another 2 beat note immediately following the envelope would restart.  this isn't how it works in my experience and i've had a bit of trouble figuring out how exactly it DOES work...  any help or comments???  THANKS!

If you left click just above the envelope window you'll bring up a context menu to allow you to set the selected node as a loop start point as long as you have a sustain node later in the envelope. That is the part that is looped in sync as I understand it.

Sustain nodes are set the same way but you can't have a loop start point without a sustain point.

As long as the note is being played it follows the envelope to a sustain point and then either stays there until note off, if there is no loop point or returns to the loop node if there is one.

Hope that makes sense.

ah! thanks karl. ill give this a shot. i really wish when the mode was changed to snap the nodes in sync mode the bars would reflect beats and no seconds.

hey karl. nice idea, but no matter how i set up sustain or loop nodes and regions, nothing produces the expected results.  what i was thinking is that it would work like the envelopes in absynth and zebra.  oh well, guess i'll just use them instead.

EDIT - aw dammit karl, i keep forgetting that a sync of 1 in rapture is NOT a whole note, it's a beat so an 1/8 sync is really a 1/32nd note and a 4 is a measure. duh.  some of the envelopes are syncing now, some refuse downright to do it.  my bad.

No worries I'm no synth expert by any stretch of the imagination. I just use them from time to time and can usually manage to edit the sounds I want. I find them unituitive though. Left click for menu for example.
