Hello,

I saw a post from awhile ago asking if this was possible, but is there anyway to add the track numbers to Export Audio > Tracks?

maybe a config file somewhere?  Nothing at this time in the Preferences or export dialog box.

Could definitely rename the tracks but I wouldnt see why the track numbers could be added at export.

thanks!

I very seldom export w/o bouncing to track first so I'll ask- isn't what gets generateted based on how the track is labled?
Now I'm thinking song (mix) tracks here but my method is markers define head and tail points for the bounce or export time range and the the song name (in the 'head marker.
So I pull up the song's marker (marker view stays open for a series of exports) and copy the one name, 'cancel that one marker view, export' and paste the name in.

Hi,

im exporting the raw tracks for use on another non-Sonar DAW.  All exports fine from Sonar for me, its just a pain to have to rename 20+ tracks in 15 song sessions to add the track number in the track name so the file name has the track number when there is already an associate track number - so when the other engineer imports the file they stay in the logical order we were working with.

currently i get "SESSION-TITLE-TRACK-NAME.wav"

would be a bit more useful if the track number was simply auto-added at export like "1-SESSION-TITLE-TRACK-NAME.wav"

i guess session track sheets would help too, but, hindsight.

Thanks

Nero or any burning software automatically add the track numbers. The info or meta data is added with software made for this, the Track number-artist-genre- and then track title are all separate parts of the meta data for each song. We just name the song when exporting, that's all.
If you really want track numbers as part of the title just type it in when naming the export.
Or  right clicking the file and "rename" it in windows.
But then when you burn the CD there will be two track numbers, and if you change your mind about song order??

Hi,

The files aren't to be burned to a CD, and of course i understand that would add track numbers -- but these are going to be transferred for import into another DAW (knowing that importing tracks usually does so alpha/numerically).

I guess you could write a CD with tracks, etc. and import into the new session (in this case Logic)  but that would kill the bitrate of the raw wav files to 16bit, Im working in 24.

Just simply want to pre-pend the file names of the tracks I export from Sonar with the track numbers and a dash.

Thanks

Hi,

currently i get "SESSION-TITLE-TRACK-NAME.wav"

Thanks

Seems at some point it needs to get typed in, how about naming the tracks with the info first?

OK I see your talking exporting individual tracks or Stems.
Ya just do like Wayne said and put the numbers in the track title box.

1-Kick
2-Snare
3-Hi Hat
22- Cowbell
47- Bad Bass line
46 - Little bit better bass line

yup -- had to actually add the track numbers to the track names and its fine, just extra work, and this only applies to this point when the files are finalized and Im exporting all the stems.

if i was just starting a session I would never do this because the tracks might get deleted, move around in the stack -- they would need renumbering all the time.

I was going to recommend creating a template with pre named tracks.
You could then make minor changes. It wouldn't really matter the order once exported.
