Good morning, All.

Using Sonar 8.5PE. Imported a small (57mb) wave file to audio track. Will not stop being "busy". (Understood a large file could take up to a few minutes, but I gave this 2 hours!!!)

Located the fix several weeks ago, but forgot the process. I know the reason is related to the import file timing being ever so slightly different so Sonar is confused how to perform the action. I remember the cure simply hitting a button or checking a box.

GUARANTEED I will document next time!!!!

Cheers

Give your cakewalk cache folder a clean out. Download sonar utilities to help you if you don't know where to find these files.

As Fitzj points out -- clean (delete) your "pic cache" folder (it's found in your global options/folders).

The other thing you might be referring to is "Import Broadcast Waves at their TimeStamp" (though that may not be the exact phrase).  It's also under global options I think.   You would want to keep that unchecheck unless you ARE working with broadcast wave files.

The location can be found just by looking in Options->Global->Folders.

Hi.
Global was unchecked. Deleted Picture cache. Now 8 of 17 tracks are "busy". Is my project trashed?

***Restored deleted files. Project OK. But this sure seems to be a clue. The import timing picture does not match up to the project picture. I found a post somewhere on the internet a few weeks ago that addressed this perfectly and it was so simple.

By the way - thanks for the assistance. I appreciate it.

Strange.
Export out the ones not working and import them in again and see what happens. Try creating a new project with one of the files that says busy. See that that creates the picture.

Hello Fitzj

Did. Looks related to project time somehow.

Like I say - there really is a very simple fix - just can't remember - I have a great memory but just very short.

Here's a thought.
Picture cache size = 500mb
Currently 134 files/150mb includes a  .WOV, .WTM, WTR file for every track. Should I only be deleting .WOV when cleaning?

Have you made any more progress on this?  I am having the same issue with both MP3 and WAV imports in SONAR 8.3.  I've even tried 20 second WAV files to see if it makes a difference - no change.  I also tried everything suggested in this thread.  I do not have any issue importing the same WAV file into StudioLive.

Ok - here is what I found:
Just deleting picture files works ok for some, but did not work for me. I'm just a noobie, yet I suspected that is only half of the solution.  From research - it is clearly important to clean this folder periodically - no matter what.

If your Audio Clips continue labeled "Busy", go to EDIT | SELECT | ALL, type ALT+ENTER, go to the Audio Files tab and click "Recompute Picture(s)". Note::: You must have your interface running (I use Presonnus Firestudio) or you will continue to get busy errors.

Not sure if it helps your issue but solved mine. Good luck.
