Another Sonar plus is that this forum is a great resource.
Much less BS than other applications' forums, and none of us seem to be corporate shills.

1) No, because it's not really a "rent-to-own" scheme. More of a time-payment plan. You own what you've got at all times and are just making ongoing payments for updates. Many people keep their DAWs offline at all times, except to perform updates and installs.

Unless my memory fails me that is not strictly true. If you are paying monthly, the only time "You own what you've got" is after you pay the last payment for that 12 month period, up until that time if you stop, you loose, I could be wrong but that has always been my understanding.

Yes, to receive a non-expiring license the terms of the payment plan must be met.

Thanks to all for the quick and thorough answers. This seems to be a very active and supportive user group which is a big plus in and of itself.

+1   This forum has been great.  I am a new hobbyist, and this forum was the reason I chose Sonar over Studio One for my first DAW.  Folks here have been very helpful to me.

Yay for me.

If you have access to fast(er) internet connection elsewhere, just download it onto a external HD/Memory stick there. Bring home and install.
