I plan on migrating for the more even workload distribution across all four/eight cores.

Has anyone tried it with a Saffire interface? I like my pro24dsp (although latency could be better) and can't find anything about Win8 on focusrite's website...

This from Focusrite's web site this morning:

"Development is currently well under way for official Windows 8 compatibility which will be announced soon. If you are serious about music making or rely on your Focusrite hardware to earn a living, we strongly advise that you wait for at least 6 months or more before updating to the latest OS until any unexpected issues arise and are dealt with.

Please check back in regularly for more information on updates and Windows 8 compatibility."

Looks like we'll be waiting a while.....

Yes I moaned about the lack of Roland support for drivers supporting new OS's over the years on the Roland forums this morning, only to discover the win 8 drivers appeared 30 mins later. Obviously nothing to do with my moan and all to do with Roland. Have win 8 and new drivers, work like a charm.
Thanks Mr Kelly!

Just to clarify the above statement, it is not saying that Focusrite has a 6 month timeline for releasing Windows 8 compatible drivers.  We will be releasing Windows 8 compatible software as soon as possible.  However, as with all new operating system releases, issues may become apparent due to system specific factors and interactions with other 3rd party hardware and software.   Between Audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, DAW software, and plugins, most users are using products from several companies.  With this variable combination of hardware and software from different manufacturers, the potential different configurations are limitless.  This being said, if you rely on your setup to earn a living, you probably don't want to be an early adopter of a new OS.  This is just general advice that we are giving.  If you feel the need to upgrade to Windows 8, by all means do so, but be aware that you may encounter issues.  If you do encounter problems with one our products, we always encourage that you let us know so that we can correct the issues as soon as possible.

Thanks for that bit of clarification Matt. I'm sure many here appreciate the info.

Why people immediately hop on board new M$ products is beyond me. Let the dust settle. Ain't sayin' Win 8 is gonna flop (but it's gonna flop). ;-p

LOL I'm doing it because I don't want you to chide me on being behind the times Beep. So its all your fault.

Really I don't see an issue with moving on to Win 8 it is not that different from Win 7 internally. If anything its an optimized Win 7. It runs on the same hardware. It supports most of the same drivers and it runs most of the same software.

When I did a compatibility test on my system for Win 8 I was pleased to note that all the stuff I was using was just fine. Now why should I put off what is clearly a positive improvement over my current Vista? And I will be in proper form when CW releases patches for X2.

At this time I'm in a position where I am in a no loss situation.  A very happy place I must say.

Hi Brandon

What's the deal with Roland Octapad SPD-30?
No Win8 drivers that I see, does MS supply generic like Windows 7?

Thanks

Alex
