It says in the (offline) help file that I'm supposed to move the cursor between the lanes until it becomes the "overlap cropping tool", but it simply ain't happening!

It only appears when you hover near the end of a clip.

I think you may have found a bug. It doesn't appear to work... Damn that's a sale gone...

Yeah, bug report coming up! Still buying your video though  Maybe I'll learn to get by without Cropping Overlapping Layers. Er, sorry, Lanes!

TBH I didn't use that method in the comping videos hence I never noticed

I do demo two comping methods though, One using the mute tool which works well on material with distinct breaks such as vocal phrases and the other by fading selected clips which works better on more continuous material such as instruments.

That may help for the time being.

Are we referring to the same thing? The OP doesn't mean the crop/fade tool at the end of the clip. He is referring to the tool that appears between two takes in the take lanes and cross fades between the two.
