And assuming that's a continuous stream of video there is another explosion at 3:06.

Also I saw a report that the Empire State building went dark and a woman got killed in Toronto by a Staples sign.

In Maryland, just North of DC, we didn't get much at all - it has been dead quiet for about an hour now.

NYC got pounded, and it looks like giant chunks of the city are dark.

Stay inside and stay warm and safe.

It was pretty impressive how quickly that fireman ran into that building.  They do NOT get paid enough for what they do.

Yeah, man. First thing I noticed too. Courage is fighting all human instinct and running TOWARDS the danger... well in some cases it just stupidity but not there.

Brass balls.

I was glad to see that there were no people in those apartments. Must have evacuated before that happened... but those people now have no homes. :-/

And I hope sharke is okay. Apparently everything lower than 39th is without power so I'm assuming that's why he's not posting. :-/

Probably not going to hear from Sharke again tonight. Most power below 40th street is out. My wife is with her mother on E33rd... no power. I'm up on 90th Street near Central Park. I have power, but heard a large noise and looked out my window to see a 60-70 ft tree just next door laying across the street, the tops resting against the building across from me, ripped out of the sidewalk roots and all.

Wind is finally calming down a bit, but the water downtown is a real problem.

It seems its trying to reach us here in Michigan. Nothing to worry about a little high winds and some rain is all. Nothing we haven't seen before.

In the east, stay safe please.

Not too bad here in southeastern PA... surprisingly well actually, all things considered.   The New Jersey shore got slammed though, especially Atlantic City which lost parts of the boardwalk.   http://abcnews.go.com/US/video/hurricane-sandy-tears-atlantic-city-boardwalk-17591221
