Here's a shot of the precarious crane...NYC has a bad record for crane safety.

Yikes. Negligence at it's finest. Hope they're keeping people away from that. Even still if the winds whip up it might send parts flying everywhere.

Just saw a report of wild horses dangerously running around in the storm - here is a video clip:

Here in southeastern PA it's been raining for hours, and the winds right now are probably about 30-35 MPH or so.   So basically a decent rain storm at the moment, but just the start...

I had an automated call from Con Edison a while ago warning that they may be shutting power off in order to minimize damage. Looks like I may have to play at being a caveman for a while  well after my iPhone (plus fully charged battery case) runs out anyway. From then on it's going to be an unamplified Telecaster in the dark.

I just went out for one last walk before the hurricane kicks in. Manhattan has it's own little micro climate. It was perfectly calm for a couple of blocks, then I turned the corner and the wind almost lifted me off my feet. A very bracing, constitution-stoutening experience. Then I got scared and came back indoors to batten down the hatches (well close the windows and put my slippers on anyway).

This isn't making any sense. There are massive warnings that my area is gonna get hit HARD and the normal weather around here gets pretty psychotic as it is (crazy windstorms every couple of weeks) but the actual forecast is saying light rain. WTF? Oh well... it's supposed to roll in tonight so I'll just have to see. I hope it's nothing special because I go a little squirelly without my computers. :-/

Just looked out my window. Trees looking like they're going to snap, a couple of airborne traffic cones, torrential rain.

And then along comes a Chinese delivery guy on a pushbike, his handlebars laden with takeaway bags.

NEW FREAKIN' YORK!

Dude's probably used to way more psychotic weather back home.

OH DANG!  That guy must have gotten blown off course.  He was supposed to be bringing me my chow mein in Maryland!
