I dont mind using fx chains in the prochannel for things like compressors, reverb or delay etc, but anything that needs more than 6 knobs or visual feedback on the gui just isn;t going to work. If I want to work with any kind of Neve EQ (such as 1073, 1081 or even the UAD 88RS strip) there's just no way I can do this sensibly in the prochannel. So either Cake should develop the fxchanins further, or they should start working more with getting a wider variety of moduless/Gloss eq modes developed. I think they should decide which way they want to go with this and go for it, rather than leaving it feeling like it's only half way there and rather limited. I personalty really like the ergonomics of the prochannel and the concept of setting up a custom channel strip...but EQ is bread & butter mixing stuff and currently I believe there should be better support for more options. I'm already considering moving back to the fx bins as it takes less clicks to open my third party EQs from there.
Even just adding banks or 'pages' to the prochannel fx chanins would be a good start...Then, I could for example load up a channel strip plugin and have fx chain page buttons for the DYN, COMP, EQ1 EQ2 & Filters and be able to use my entire channel strip from within the pro channel whilst swapping out my compressors as needed etc. such as switching off my channel strip compressor and adding the LA2A module into the pro channel for vocals. I'd probably prefer this approach as development of new prochannel modules seems rather slow.
