I just had a quick look to see if I could find what/where you're talking about but couldn't.
I will delve into it later...I'm assuming you're talking about doing this in prefs/customization/display right?

In Customization/Preferences/Colors you get:
 
 "Audio Tracks xxxxxx Foreground"
 "MIDI Tracks xxxxxxx Forground"
 "Tracks xxxxxxx Background"
 
Ignore "MIDI Tracks xxxxxxx Background" as it does not apply to X2.
 
After setting these like you want, select any or all tracks in TV and go into the Inspector. Click the CLIP or TRACK tab at the top and make sure "Use Track Colors" is checked and that the color chips match your Pref settings.
 
Not sure, but you may need to close and reopen to set the changes.
 
Your PRV should now follow the TV.
 
By unchecking this box you can change a specific track without affecting the rest.
 
The process seems a little more complex than in previous Sonars but it does work... .
 
You can also import colorsets from version 8 and before to change some colors not accessible in X1 and 2.
 
 
 
Guys, if you really like color selection and theme changing, check out what DP8 is doing. Apparently they've been lurking around here awhile.

You're right, I can customize my track colors using this method...Thanks !!

How hard would it be to just have an overlay that changes the color of the tracks?

This is what I've been doing in another program with color. I'd love to be able to do it in Sonar.

There is none. They match the Track colors in preferences.
