I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am setting up a small studio using an M-Audio ProFire 2626 and Cakewalk SONAR X1. I installed SONAR X1, then installed the latest Profire 2626 driver for Windows 7 64-bit. Using the ProFire 2626 Control Panel, I disabled all the digital inputs/outputs and software returns 9 thru 26, leaving only the 8 analog inputs/outputs and the first 8 software returns enabled. The monitors are connected to analog outputs 1 & 2.
I then opened SONAR X1 and tried to play the audio tutorial project, but I had no sound and no activity in the meters. I rebooted the computer and tried playing the audio tutorial again, and to my surprise, I had sound and activity in the Sonar X1 meters. However, while SONAR X1 was playing, I opened the ProFire 2626 Control Panel to verify that I could see activity on the meters for the software returns, and the audio playback instantly dropped to a gritty, fuzzy hiss. and all meter activity was lost in SONAR. I never saw the SW return activity in the 2626 Control Panel mixer.
I checked the audio config in SONAR X1, and everything seems to be set correctly, however, nothing happens when I click the ASIO Panel button. I think it is supposed to open the 2626 Control Panel from within SONAR, but it doesn't.
For some reason SONAR X1 and the 2626 Control Panel do not seem to be working well together. I can get SONAR X1 to work as long as I don't touch the 2626 Control Panel, but it won't work if I do anything with the Control Panel. I've done the 2626 driver uninstall and re-install a few times with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the 2626 Control Panel to work well with SONAR X1? Any ideas about what could be causing the incompatibility? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay
