Back when i used to sue DR 008 drum synth i could go into piano roll and use its view to plot notes. since going to 64bit/X1  i can't use that anymore and i have been using Session drummer 3 in step sequencer view. Is there a way to get Session drummer 3 to use the piano roll view?

also back when using DR 008 in piano roll view i could select a drum fill from a drop down and roll it across the piano view and it would insert the drum fill.
Is there any way to do either of those with session drummer?

Thanks

The logical answer would be that the DR 008 Drum Synth is not 64bit ready Or you have not installed the 64bt update for that synth.

Either way, go to that manufactures website and see if that synth supports 64bit and if it has an update to 64bit

Hi Enlikil,

Yes, you can use Session Drummer 3 with the Piano Roll view (PRV). Choose Insert > Soft Synth > Session Drummer. In the dialog box, put check marks next to the following options:
* MIDI Source
* First Synth Audio Output (or All Synth Audio Outputs if you want multiple outputs)
* Synth Property Page.

Click OK. When the Session Drummer window opens, load a new program or kit.

Make the MIDI track active and open the PRV. You should see drum names to the left and you can input notes in the Notes pane.

Regarding premade fills, etc. No the Paintbrush tool was removed in X1 and hasn't been added back in X2.

I have the DR008 running just fine in X2 x64....

I believe I did nothing special and it must be running via bitbridge.... I'll look when I get to my DAW later...

But I use Session Drummer most of the time... I use DR008 for percussion extras which I don't have for Session Drummer (such as shakers)...

Tell me a little more of what you're doing and maybe I can help...

Thanks for all the responses, I will try them when I finish installing X2 on my new windows 8....

Keni, I used to use it just to lay down drums when I did not have a drummer. It worked pretty good. I  can work the step sequencer but I do prefer piano view. ( at least right now)

Garrigus, I will try your suggestions.

cjaysmusic, I thought they quit supporting the DR008. I will have to check.

Thanks again

I too used to use DR008 for that... Now I use Session drummer most of the time... I use them both with the PRV as I don['t enjoy step sequencers after so many years in the 60's and 70's having nothing but....

I just used the DR008 for the first time in X2 and it's working just fine... I used the PRV for it and all was as it's always been...

My humble apologies as I just found that the song I used it in was created in X1 32bit where DR008 is working fine... I don't have it installed on my x64 machine so I don't know if it's working there or not....

[update]
I just installed it on my x64 machine and to my chagrin, it works fine in X2 32bit (on the x64 machine), but does not appear in the Sonar x64 version... So I guess you can use it in the 32bit X2, then freeze it and switch to the x64 as I guess I'll have to if/when I need to...
[end update]
