  • The PRV in X2 is apparently crippled...who all has noticed??? (p.2)

Well at least it's not just me seeing this weirdness.  I also discovered that my PRV just quits scrolling with playback seemingly at its whim.  And you're so right about never knowing where PRV might take you in any given track.  I was working on some horn parts and it would not take me to those measures no matter what I tried.  I think part of my problem is that usually enter the PRV using Alt-V and not double clicking on a clip.  I'll try that and see if it helps.  Thanks for confirming my su****ions  Kevo, ol pal.

I have seen the zoomed in/out PRV view but its not all the time and I can't seem to pin down why. I'm guessing that's one of those odd bugs that only show under some circumstances.

The PRV that stops scrolling is caused by a feature - "left click locks scroll" which also works in the TV. If you left click and select anything (Clip/notes/etc) in either view the scroll will stop to allow you to complete the edit. You can restart the scrolling by right clicking in the top half of the time ruler (where the cursor changes to a magnifying glass).

Alternatively turn it off altogether by deselecting that option in the "TV Menu--->Options--->Click behaviour" menu. That turns it on/off in both the TV and PRV.

Regarding the snap. I've seen several complain about the snap not working in the PRV unless the PRV snap is turned on but I don't see that at all. I wonder if there is an obscure bug going on with some configs/setups.

The snap in the PRV here follows the global snap setting unless I turn on the PRV snap. For the PRV snap to work though the global snap must be on.

I haven't seen any problem with the zoom level changing, but I've seen the other problems such as the scroll lock happening when it shouldn't.  Even with nothing selected it will stop scrolling and not start scrolling again until you right click in the PRV time line.

X2 is stable as all get out but it sure has a ton of glitches/anomaly's. :)

I've not seen the zoom stuff mentioned, but I've had the global snap settings change all on their own - frequently.  E.g. I've right clicked on the snap button and chosen 1/16ths and then a few minutes later it's switched to a lesser resolution like 1/1, which I know can't be my fault as I would never choose that.  I haven't reported it because I can't make it happen at will.  It must be an X2 thing as I've never seen it before - it's so bizarre and a bloody nuisance that I would definitely have noticed it before.

The annoying PRV zoom issue also confirmed here.
The PRV scroll behavior understood, thanks to FBB. Hooray, Hooray! : )

Yes, I can also confirm the same thing - quite often going into the PRV and the vertical zoom reduces everything to a thin line.

It makes no difference if the state of the PRV is locked via a screenset, it's pretty random.

Thanks to all for the "left click locks time" thingy.  It DID solve my scroll problem (so I'll have to learn more about this feature).  But here's the quircky kicker:

It also seems to have solved my random PRV view/zoom problems.  Since I disabled it in the options menu my PRV is just like I set it on every re-entrance on every track.  Seems there might be a correlation between the two.

If you're also having trouble with the PRV zoom view...try disabling the "left click locks time" in the TV Options pull down...click behaviour.

Nice theory but I can disprove that one already as I've never disabled it but I still get the zoom quirk from time to time. Sorry. It doesn't happen often here though, once every 50 or 60 PRV openings. A minor niggle more than anything else.

Everytime I re-enter the PRV my view settings are changed.  By that I mean that I like to see my notes as big (apparently) as the zoom vertical slider will let me.  But when I re-enter the PRV they are back to a few notches back so they look like "lines" instead of "rectangular notes".  Is there a way to make the PRV quit the heck doin that???  Plus my age old problem of the PRV not showing any notes when I enter it is still with me in X2...only now it's worse.  In X1 when this would happen all I had to do was exit and then re-enter the PRV to make the notes show up.  With X2 it doesn't matter how many times I exit or re-enter...I have to exit, move the cursor/now time to some other location and then back to where I want it and then re-enter the PRV.

I have seen this as well, and thought it was just me.  Sometimes I don't have any notes at all, and the notes bar (where the piano keys/drum map should be) on the left is zoomed way out.  Right-clicking in the notes bar does nothing, and I have yet to figure out what combination of keys and/or opening/closing the PRV causes it to revert back to some semblance of normalcy.  I have been caught by the scrolling thing, too, so it is good to know how to cure that behavior now.  Thanks to all who have responded, and to yourolpal for pointing this out - now I know I'm not just having flashbacks!

Yea, it's a weird one Karl, ol pal.  All I can tell you is that yesterday EVERYTIME I went into the PRV it was back to tiny little lines and since I've made that switch today (I'm working even now on it) my PRV has been perfecto mundo.  (with the exception of occasionally not showing ANY notes as per usual):-)
