Sounds like something has been corrupted to me possibly in the registry. An uninstall doesn't delete the registry keys though, they are there to be picked up by future installs.

*****WARNING*******
Before doing the following make a backup of the registry using File--->Export and be careful while editing the registry as it can render your computer unbootable if you start deleting stuff willy nilly........

Having said that this is perfectly safe.....

I'd start by uninstalling then open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ and delete the X2 key if there is one. Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer and delete the X2 key there as well.

Finally check your user data folder as well.

Press the Windows key and enter %appdata% in the search box and then navigate to the Cakewalk directory and delete the Sonar Producer X2 folder if it exists.

You'll then be back to a pre X2 install state.

Hi Frank - had a WONDERFUL 4 hour nap.

I sent you a private message - please send a custom track template from your X1 and X2 track templates folders- to my private email, which is contained in the private message I just sent you.

I just want to try to load THOSE onto my system, and also test to see if there is something in those that are affecting your ability to load and test whether or not the mere presence of extra custom templates causes problems.

Just trying to be methodical, and so far 2 of us have had no issues in loading stock templates.

OK?

I'll be poking around for a little while waiting for coffee to brew up before tending to my own projects, so IF you happen to be awake I may be able to post back in short order once I receive the email reply with the attached templates.

Otherwise, I will check back mid-morning to see if you have responded and will test then - maybe around noon or so.

FastBikerBoy I totally missed this post, I am in the process of doing these steps right now. I know it will work, I actually bought a new ssd, did a clean install of w7 and installed x2 and I did not have this problem anymore, however, it's waaaaay too overwhelming to install everything I had on this system. Thanks a lot I hope this works. I'll report back.
