All prices on the euro and gbp store include VAT. Ryan already explained we made a mistake with the order that had nothing to do with the VAT.

yep, but the value of the product had to be written on the declaration right ? . You lot charge £20-£25 for that box , right? so I'm surprised it attracted that much duty etc. unless the declared value was the total cost of the upgrade. Hopefully you get what I've said and buying direct in the UK next time seems the way to go for me, as marketing like making "exclusives" not so exclusive.

That's specifically what I was referring to with this:

Long story short, the price on the order also included the upgrade cost from X1 to X2 since it was purchased at the same time as the boxes. The SKU that was used to process the order was for a physical upgrade and not a download upgrade like it should have been. This threw off the total cost of the actual physical product being shipped. So you're seeing an import tax of £22.89 for a total value of what I believe was more like £104.98 and not £24.99. (that's just an estimate on my end I don't have access to the order at the moment).

The value was wrong in the declaration due to the incorrect SKU. Again, trying to figure out the math on this case is just going to lead you down a frustrating path, since the order was messed up to begin with and changed as it went through different hands. I hope that helps clear up why the duty seemed high though.

When I was in the UK, I once purchased a graphics card from the US and had to pay £24 import duty.  However, whenever I purchased any software items ordered directly from the Cakewalk site, these always arrived within 2 or 3 days, despatched from somewhere in the UK.  Nothing to pay.

I think they used to use a 'fulfilment partner' in Ireland which is part of the EU and shipments within the EU are totally exempt duties and taxes.
