This has probably been asked before...but.....
How do I get all my drum midi loops, drum audio, loops into the X2 Browser window?
Di I just copy and paste within Windows Explorer or can I add them with X2?

Thanks and I hope this is not a redundant question.....I'm in the middle of recording a tune right now

You gotta use the VST scanner thingy and point it to where ever the files are located. When you get to the VST scanner window you can choose the folders on your computer you want scanned (it's like a standard windows file browser window). Once you add the paths they should show up. Check the manual for VST scanning. If you don't get it figured out I'll dig up one of my old threads where I was having the same conundrum.

I don't have Sonar open but the VST thingy is in Edit > Preferences and is in the VST settings menu (can't remember the exact name but you should be able to find it.)

Cheers.

Beepster, thanks....but I'm still having an issue...I pointed (within the X2 browser) to a path where some Groove Monkee midis were located and I hit the (looks like a floppy disk icon) save content figuring that would add it...well it did but wiped out the default Groove Monkee midis that were already there by default

The X2 browser can traverse all of your pc to any directory using the button to the left of the preset dropdown. Once you find the directory would want to add to the X2 browser hit the button to the right of the preset dropdown.

Don't do it in the browser. Go to Edit > Preferences > VST Settings (or whatever it's called) and get to the VST scanner. You browse and add the paths then click the scan button. It's a little complex and I don't have Sonar open but the procedure is in the manual. You're just looking in the wrong place. I'll open Sonar if need be to help but it's best to read up on it. I realized I actually didn't type up how I did it so my old threads will be useless.

Actually listen to scook. He knows more than I do. I did it through the preferences dialogue myself and got things working. The browser was just borking me up when I tried it there. Good luck.

If you did a default installation, then all your loops, etc. that came with SONAR should be located in C:\Cakewalk Content on your main hard drive. Inside that folder are subfolders containing all the various content that comes included with SONAR.

Now, you can copy new content into those folders, if you'd like and the content will show up in the Browser. Or you can create new folders (you need to use Windows Explorer) and then create new Content Locations in the Browser.

If you don't like the browser idea and want to leave your files where the are you can use the mklink command to create junctions to your current locations within the Cakewalk Content directory tree.

For example I have a bunch of MIDI loops in n:\midi. To add that into the Midi Groove Clips area from the command line at where ever you have "Cakewalk Content\MIDI Library" (C drive probably) type mklink /j "My Midi" n:\midi. Then "My Midi" will appear in the Midi Groove Clips area.

Thanks everyone........since the midis don't take up alot of room anyway, I'm going to go with Scott's idea of copying and pasting into the Cakewalk content folder
