So if you're mainly an audio guy and not much into synths (Played a bit with SI Bass) would you consider this?

I would suggest you play a bit with the freebie Z3ta that comes with X1/X2.. if you like what you hear then this is a cheap upgrade to the lastest version... same architecture just betterer.. and its very different than (say) dimpro or rapture..

I find myself spending a lot of money at the cakewalk store this year because of deals that are simply too good to pass up. I want to make sure I got this right and yes I know it is a stupid question but here it goes.

Because I own X2 pro I also own Z3ta and because I have that synth it entitles me to get the upgrade price of $29.00. Is this Correct?

If you pick up on this deal or already have z3ta+2 you might want to check out the free 40 min. DSF tutorial referenced here http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2699178

Can't pass up on a deal like this one.

Good vid, too.
Explains the layout, setup and controls very nicely.

Z3TA+ 2... is... AWESOME! It was my favorite product to work on.  And the sound designers really stepped it up and made some sick presets.  I'm glad you guys get a chance to pick it up on the cheap! Enjoy!

And... it's the only synth I know of that let's you bend chords in key: http://blog.cakewalk.com/...-perfectly-every-time/

Reaktor is a lifetime committment...   I've always been on the fence with Reaktor..   For one, "if you buy Reaktor or Kontakt directly from NI, the pricing scheme stuffs Komplete down your throat," and I don't want Komplete specifically because, "you can't learn all that."  You can only learn some of them, "halfway or poorly, or focus mostly on just Reaktor and FM8 for eg."  My second problem is the way, "NI scraps and throws out their tech, and sticks you with synth of the moment, or current version you better upgrade too."   Finally, I find the NI sound overly harsh and, "happy go lucky," for lack of a better phrase..

Other than that...  yep, I understand what you are saying..  yep, I own more gear than I am using..   oh well..   sometimes I buy softwares and I love em, sometimes they collect virtual dust, while I focus on the ones I love...

Edit = on second thought, fyi..   its not that I am uber materialistic or anything, its the nature of music software imho...

I have Komplete 8 Ultimate and I'm very happy with it....started out with just Komplete and then upgraded for half price via their summer sale. Sure I'll probably never get around to using all of it, but it's just really great to have there and I am never ever stuck for sound ideas. The effects alone are just incredible and overwhelming. You're right that NI stuff has a certain sound, I wouldn't call it harsh though. And I rarely use the presets "as is," I mangle them a lot with parameters and effects to get the sound I want. But Komplete is definitely not "Complete" in any sense of the word. It's just one small slice of the audio pie.
