I have a tascam us1641

drivers I set at 24 bit

but the transport in sonar x1 display it is in 16 bit

I tried setting 24 bit in both ASIO mode and WDM mode

and still the transport display in sonar is reading 16 bit

what's going on?

I had the same observation... X1 found most of my v8.5 preferences when it installed but not the record bit depth.

Go look in Edit>Preferences>File Data>Record bit Depth or something like that.

I found it was set back to 16, changed it 24 and I'm good.

Have fun!

best regards,
mike

Exactly mike - Thats my issue - Clearly in the edit -  preference menu -  I have set the drivers to 24 bit - it says right here - on my screen they are set at 24 bit

BUT - the transport display in sonar says 16 bit  -

Hey Mooch,
This has happened to me with every version of Sonar for years now.  Just open the aud.ini file, search for "16" and you'll find an entry that says something like default bit depth.  Change it to 24.

Good luck

Hey razor thanks for the help - but - computer is not finding the aud,ini file - I did search 16 - and the settings for my tascam us1641 audio interface came up - and yes they are set at 24 bit as default

the aud.ini file IS there, Mooch I just searched it to blow it away and let X1a rebuild it

its located in the "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME \Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer"

Mooch, it's not in the Edit>Preferences>Audio Options area...

It is hidden in the Edit>Preferences>File Data area.

It's been centralized. :S)

It's the place where you choose the render/export bit depth and the import bit depth, and the record bit depth.

Good luck,
mike

Jumping up and down!!

Got it thanks Mike - FIXED!

Thanks music man and razor for your help too!!
