And no I am not being superior but the firstt thing we are told as academics is DONT USE WIKIPDIA!!
Funny, I thought academics eventually learn spelling at some point. Dude, you undermine your credentials constantly by having some of the worst grammar on these boards (and man oh man is that saying sumthin!).

Ok you and I are not getting into a slinging match, this is a forum if I checked everypost for grammar and spelling I would never post.

I don't have the best grammat but I am getting better, I have been working on it.

You know some of the agruements and I'm not talking about you James, we have had our tiff and I hope we are over it but if the only comeback or argument you have against my statement is grammar, well we will leave it at that.

Lets get this straight once and for all, it's a forum, you type fast, so mistakes are made.  I need glasses, I really do, grammar standerds are falling everywhere.

I've actually run out of things to say, this whole Ben you have **** grammar is boring.  I will because the challange is on, prove to you I can get better with this grammar crap.

Actually are we even talking about grammar and now talking about colloquialisms, look if you want me to write in a scholary manner I will.

Lets give it a go:

I have three vocational certificates, a bachelor's degree and a master's.  It took six years to achieve these awards, I believe it is important to continue to learn and grow, even as we grow older.  This can be done by way of different paths, including: education, self education and life experience.

Ok hows that James??

I will beat you all, the challange is on!! even if that means sitting down and reading a ****en book on grammar!!!

Oh Lord Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood!!

Ok I am going to across as some know it all wanka, at a masters level, that is beyond an undergraduate degree, we are classified as academics.  That is why we get to have intials after our name to denote we have reached a certain level.

Does that mean I am better than you??  To quote Lennon: "I'm not better or greater, I just said what I said and now there is all this".

Lets get this straight as well and this will make me unpopular, we are still divided by class, they're the lower socio econmic groups who tend and I say tend to be undeucated, then they're the middle classes "I'm alright Jack keep your hands off my stack" The upper rich classes and most will never see their ivory palaces and then they're the academic classes.

And lets get this straight they are as equally protective of their status as the upper classes and we should not denigrate the academic classes, most have strangely wired brains, thats what make us good at analysis, working things out and putting the picture togther.

Remember:  "I'm not better or greater, I just said what I said and now there is all this"

But I am going to protect my posistion on the ladder of socity, my family come from the lower socio economic group and are uneducated, some could even be called retared.  I am the only one to climb out of that sludge.

So one again I will protect the posistion I have climbed on socities ladder for all it's worth and even if it makes me unpopular, lets get this straight, I know my degree's are cornflake packet degree's but they open doors and I can get my toe in where possibly a person without MMusTech at the end of their name will have it slamed.  I know this because all I have been doing for the last three weeks is opening doors with MMusTech.

Remember: "I'm not better or greater, I just said what I said and now there is all this"

As for the Lennon thing I know the scene well, once again as an academic, it is my job to analyse, so I have drawn a conclusion that I understand when he is being sarcastic and when he is not.  Am I right who know's I won't until I ask him when I reach that great gig in the sky and we have that jam.

Remember: "I'm not better or greater, I just said what I said and now there is all this"

See, that's exactly it Ben.

A - you don't need to quote Lennon to me as: I've read all I wanted or needed to know about him, and secondly, in this very case it just achieves the opposite of what you say you're trying to achieve - you are, once more, appropriating Lennon, his words, to lend YOURSELF credibility.

B - The last thing I need when I come here is a lecture on classes. I went to school and I studied all that stuff. And I'm sure it's the same for a lot of folks here.

C- I don't even know how you manage to once again make this spiral into a class-related issue. No one brings that up - you're the one bringing that crap up all the time and making it into a "me against the world". No one is trying to rob you of anything, of your "position", of your knowledge - but you don't OWN the Beatles, no matter how special you think your knowledge makes you. You're just a fan among millions of them Ben. And thousands of them know as much as you do.

D - Your job as an academic?  I can't believe you still bring that. Again. It's the Coffee House - the place is full of musicians, a lot of them could teach you a thing or two and have 10 times your credentials.

FWIW - I studied philosophy Ben. I've also studied literature and classical music. I've played jazz. I speak my native language, French, but also your language, English (which I manage to spell correctly unlike certain academics - and I do type quite fast ;) - also bit of Spanish. Learning German these days.

I've had music in documentaries that were shown not only in my native Canada, but in Europe. Among other things. I'm currently writing music for a lady who has a few gold records hanging on our studio walls.

And like you, I've read dozens of books about The Beatles. I don't put letters after my nickname though. I know that there are countless folks here who can teach me a lot of things. Everyone is bound to know things I don't know.

Anyway, you do as you wish, Ben. The folks here have been prompt to accept you as one of us, to demonstrate how much they care and sympathize (I included). I would have hoped that you would have realized that you didn't have to try and look special by constantly using The Beatles and rambling about classes and academics and such. People can be incredibly kind around here, they all treat you as an equal, as one of the guys, and you're constantly roughing them to boost your ego when it's what makes them uncomfortable - not you, your frickin' attitude.

Clearly, you don't want to sit back and realize that you are among friends enjoy a coffee w/ the rest of us, so I'm leaving this "table".

No hard feelings, I just don't care, man. All the best.

Ok yea it's suppose to be the coffee house I get that and it's suppose to be relaxed and fun not all heavy and philosophical but I'm not like that I'm a heavy dude and I play around and make jokes too but sometimes we need to talk about the serious stuff, like class and how we are still divided by class.

It's nothing to do with ego placing initials after my name I earnt them and it's my right.

I'm glad you have had so much sucsess.

I can't learn like everyone else I'm autodidactic (this means it is better for me to teach myself, yes I read what people post but nobody can teach me anything I have to figure out a way to learn or teach myself stuff, there is formula for learning for me and I figure it out before I can learn), I'm also suppose to have ADHD, so I don't read everything always and skip lines now and then.

So I can't even quote Lennon to make a point, a point saying Mea Culpa, I am not better than you.  I have all this energy, maybe some might understand, maybe you understand.  So what you think of as ego is just engery and enthusiasim.

Christ you know it easy, they're gonn crucify me.

Do you understand now Rain, I am one of the most understanding and accepting people you will ever meet, believe that if you will.

I've got work to do, still writing busniess plan, going to check out the Salamanca Markets, then I've got paper work to do.

I hope some of you are getting what I am saying, I am like this in life just full of beans I wear people out all the time, I have confidence in myself maybe too much but maybe the world doesn't have enough in it's self.

Degrees are cool; and so is life experience but the truly intelligent are, above all, open-minded.

It seems the older we get the more closed-minded we become.
