Greg Lake, recorded in 2005. Great band, nice arrangements and all your favorites are included, starting with In the Court of the Crimson King. 21st Century Schizoid Man later on, could have used a real sax but still a most excellent rendition of one of my faves. Crowd pleasers I Believe in Father Christmas and, of course, Lucky Man. And the perfect encore number to wrap it up: welcome back, my friends! Enjoy.

Dire Straits in 1985, so it's mostly the Brothers in Arms album. Mark may have aged a lot in 30 years, but the music still holds up really well.

Looking forward to both! Thanks.

Ever since I got the Red subscription, I've been spending WAY too much time on YT.

That's Florian Ophale playing guitar with Greg Lake - he later replaced Martin Barre in what now passes for Jethro Tull. Big shoes to fill.

Jethro Tul-lite?

Thought about them (Jethro Tull that is) last night while listening to Solaris.  Not many rock the flute!

Hi,

And this is, easily, one of the best concerts I have ever seen, right next to Return to Forever with Jean Luc Ponty in Eugene.

The whole thing was amazing, and a total sensory treat. And yes, it did pay off to close your eyes, as suggested and hear the music ... the musicianship was insane to say the least. And 3 drummers? ... SUBLIME!

As soon as I saw the DGM in the URL, I knew it was King Crimson. Been a fan since Court of the Crimson King. I love the way they took over ownership of their own works. DGM is a good model.

I first heard CofCK played straight through, front to back, on an a clear channel AM radio station out of Little Rock, AK. From 5am to midnight, it was a country truckers station. But from midnight to 5am, it was the best progressive music station in the country. I can't remember the name of the DJ, but he was famous. After dark, when the clear channel AM stations started bouncing, you could get them all over the place (like driving between WI and CO to see my g/f).

Any who...one night, middle of winter, I was driving 5 sleeping dudes back to Madison from a skiing trip to Devil's Head in a terrific college car (a beat up '61 Dodge 4 door with push button automatic AND 4 holes in the floor!). It only had an AM radio, but I was able to get the Little Rock station. 30 minutes into the drive, the DJ announced that a new LP had just come in from a new band, King Crimson, and he was just gonna play it straight through.

OMG. I tried waking the other 5 and failed. Their loss. What a revelatory experience! I can't begin to tell you how much money that one car ride has cost me over the years in LPs, cassettes, CDs, more CDs, even more CDs (geez, but Fripp is good at rereleases!), VHS (legit and a bunch of boots), DVDs, and now Blu-ray. Criminy. Of, and let's not forget concert tickets. I can remember paying $5.00 to see KC. Ha! Not today.

I've not seen the modern line-up. I envy you that!

In the Court of the Crimson King was a major milestone in my musical evolution, too. It changed everything.

The only other albums I can think of that had as great an impact were Sgt. Pepper and Are You Experienced?

And what this version of KC does with the first album ... is amazing ... and insane, and superb ... and even includes the obligatory drum solo mid-song in the 21st Century Schizoid Fripp! But the presentation with 3 drummers, was magnificent, and well done and versed. You can tell that the music was rehearsed and worked tightly ... and very well defined ... simply amazing.

They really should send a DVD out, but I think they will wait until they are done with this section of concerts (a few more to go in Europe I think), and then, I think that KC is over and out and done with. I think that Robert will retire after this ... there really is no where else to go, although they say there is material for a new album ... but I do not see the need.

But a DVD ... would be a treat ... even though they specified at every show ... close your eyes during the concert ... and it works! Of course, it does! Did with Pink Floyd too in the early days! Or Tangerine Dream!

Really enjoyed this one;

Always thought Midge Ure is a very under-rated singer and guitarist.

And both a Rich Kid and a Thin Lizzy guitarist in his time.
