If this Axl thing is true (haven't even bothered looking) the band is done.

It's true (announced on their website). I think they're trying to do the decent thing and honour the European tour dates, obviously a lot of people have bought tickets.

I still say Jimmy Barnes would have been a better choice (being Aussie as well) but I kind of get the Axl Rose thing, it's giving the fans a 'name' rather than just a stand-in.

James, I agree Jimmy would have been great, but he's got his own health issues. He released a really good CD last year and was unable to tour to support it due to his health at the time. Great singer and one of my favs.

I'm not sure I understand Brian Johnson's problem tbh. Yes stadium concert volume levels are damaging his hearing. But why not just wear those pro ear plugs like Chris Martin wears on stage? They can afford it. He's been told he's fine to record in the studio. So if he's ok to wear cans and sing, surely he's ok to wear earplugs and sing.

His problem is that he can't hear the guitars onstage, and thusly can't stay in key. Ear plugs would compound the inability to hear them.

The ear plugs in question also act as in-ear monitors.

Sad that musicians like Brian suffer ear probs.
Why so many old musicians do´nt get the right moment
to finish the music career ?
Musicians  like Brian Ferry , David Bowie ,which finished the career
very aware, are rare.
Like Beepster says:
AXL and AC/DC are ..........done.

I'm a huge BF fan, but noticed that in his last tour his voice is failing.  Where in the past his backing singers sang great countermelodies, now they usually just double his line.  It was depressing to notice, and realize that maybe it's time he thought about retiring...

Brian's now 70 so you have to give him props for even trying, but it probably is time for him to hang up the mic.  I still remember listening to some of his solo stuff and thinking "Wow, the guitar work is great!" only to find out later that it was Mark Knopfler.

Hey Randy! I didn't know that, sad to hear. Saw a version of DP's 'Lazy' on YouTube a while back with him and Joe Bonamassa, excellent stuff.

I thought BF is still retiered,
don´t know about his come back.
Seems to be a mistake.......

I don't think I've ever heard a good live performance by Axl Rose with the Gunners...except.. What little of the newest ones I've heard sound much better than anything I've heard  from him this far. Perhaps some extra meat has given him more bottom :o)
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he puts a lot of new life into many AC/DC classics.

BTW, I just realized that Duff and Slash are playing with GnR again. Didn't think Axl and Slash would ever bury the hatchet. Interesting...

This is just about the tightest live performance from GnR I've seen.

Live MTV special from '88. Band was still lean, hungry and mean. If you can get past some of the tech difficulties and swear werd "BLEEPS" it's a pretty solid performance. Axl included.

He of course throws a temper tantrum at one point and whips a mic at someone (IIRC... haven't watched it in a while).

I've always been attracted to old,*weathered* rockers.  Like the Rod Stewart songs goes:  forever young.  Of course you men would never understand the attraction of rough trade.  It's kind of a fetish (but then again what isn't?)
