Now there are no drivers to choose from in either X1 or X2. All of my V studio 700 drivers are gone. WTF? Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get them back? Thanks in advance...

ha ha the drivers weren't deleted. did you unplug the device?

alternatively, did you turn the device off? I don't mean to be overly snarky but it's like, I screwed in a light bulb and my car's out of gas. Perhaps true true, but certainly unrelated.

If you are really having a super hard time, try a restart. That will cause a full refresh of the Windows Hardware Abstraction layer. Then plug in your device. you should be able to open Device Manager (right click 'my computer' and choose manage... click on the device manager). Do you see your device? Does it have a yellow exclamation mark? No? Great! You're good to go.

Start up Sonar Producer. Do a happy dance as everything works beautifully. (I hope).

Thanks, the reboot got my drivers recognized again. I can hear system sounds, audio through my browser and X1 is back working. X2 however, shows all of my inputs and ouput drivers as checked and active, but I can't get a peep out of X2. Any ideas? It all looks just like X1 which is fully functioning...

accidentally muting all tracks? input echo on? routed to a bus not muted with an appropriate output set? try a new project.. see if you can get that working then troubleshoot this one.

All good ideas. I'll check when I get home and will try the new project approach. All settings are the same for the other variables and play beautifully when opened in X1 which is what has me baffled...

I have had Sonar blow its driver brains out before too, and I just do a reboot and all comes back like nothing ever happened.

I do this whenever that message pops up like it wants to give me the silent treatment (silent Master Buss).

The most recent loss of Sonar consciousness was Sunday night, when I happened to be recording something when my weekly backup kicked off.  It REALLY did not like that.

But, since it was late and nothing got messed up, I just called it a day and got a good night's rest.

I've had some muting problems in x2. specifically, when I create a group to toggle mute and solo on a mix down track. itsometimes has ended up hopelessly muted. solution for me was drag clip to a new track and delete old track.

Tried again today and same thing. Any ideas before I uninstall/reinstall x2?

You could try holding the shift key when opening SONAR.
