if you already had dp 1.5 installed, installing from x2 just messes it up - should be a faq/sticky....

Not sure but just throwing stuff out there.
I had Dim Pro 1.5 installed and registered since X1.
When I installed X2 it asked for the registration code again. I looked in my Cakewalk download list and noticed that the Registration code for Dim Pro 1.5 that comes with X2 has a different code then the existing one.
Maybe you need to be sure that you're version is registered with the X2 code.

Not sure why that would matter since they're both Dim Pro 1.5 but maybe the Strings are looking at the older install?

Yeah, I did registrar Dim Pro with the new X2 code. Also have tried running Digital Audio Strings as administrator several times. Real mystery. I'll just try different things. Maybe reinstall Dim Pro, although it works find inside X2. Peculiar that no one else has encountered this problem. I may have to contact Cakewalk tech.

Second, I'd like to say thanks to all the nice people that respond and try to help on this forum!!!!

Did you have a older version of DimPro installed prior to 1.5? If so, there might be some old registry entries that the DSF installer is picking up.

Have you tried calling tech support?  I had some weird Dim Pro problem once and they generated a new reg code for me and all has been well ever since.

Just a thought,

Judder, I contacted tech support. Got an email that solved the whole problem. I can't post the solution here, as it involves a link to a download so that you can manually install. Anyway, I have the strings installed now.

Good news indeed - perhaps you could let us know what they did to fix you - that might help the next 'you' that posts about this problem.

Thanks,

Bob Bone
